Pisgah's name
comes from Mt. Pisgah, the mountain top from which
Moses saw the Promised Land.
Pisgah Lutheran
Church is a congregation of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Begun in 1879,
Pisgah was built on a tract of land given by two sets of brothers,
John J. and Martin Luther Kyzer, and John J.
and Martin Luther Taylor.
The Rev. Barney
Kreps was the first pastor of Pisgah.
He, like many of the pastors who would follow,
served several other congregations in addition
to Pisgah.
In 1964, Pisgah
became self-supporting,
and built its beautiful modern sanctuary in 1971.
Fire destroyed
the Education Wing in 1980,
but it was rebuilt and dedicated within a year.
Pisgah's people
have been working together
to serve God and His people for over a century.
